Who's the puppet?

We watch the polls and listen intently to the political debates; we discuss with one another who is most likely to win the nomination for President. Back and forth we go. On TV the greatest political minds openly discuss why, what for and how each candidate may or may not win or lose.

Then we pick up God's Word. WOW! Is He the greatest debater of all? You've got it. His wisdom is inscrutable. Our God sees beyond all public reasoning and scrutinizing. He knows the deep and secret things that have to do with the hidden heart of every man.

I feel, even as I write to you, a song welling up from within my Spirit; "How Great Is Our God? Sing with me... how great is our God." How wonderful to know the God of all truth and justice; hear His words from Psalms 25:6-8a:

" For exaltation comes neither from the east
Nor from the west, nor from the south
But God is the judge;
He puts down one,
and exalts another.
For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup...."

Notice, the direction, 'North', is not included in the Psalmist's wording. The north represents the secret place where God's counsel is the deciding factor.

When we see one ruler after another trying with everything in their arsenal of arrogance to overthrow another candidate, when we are shockingly surprised at sudden disgrace, revealed only to gain prominence, we ourselves begin to bend like wheat in the wind.

God's Word makes it very clear that promotion comes not from man's wealth or his wisdom, but God raises up one and puts down another to fulfill His own purpose. He puts into the hands of the one He selects a cup of divine providence; a mixture of mercy and grace for His beloved ones, in times of trouble, and the dregs of shame, heartbreak and disaster for those who refuse His great mercy and scoff at His Lordship.

God is judge. He puts down one and sets up another as He sees fit.

Who will be the puppet in the hand of our God in 2009?
Oh, how the words of God ring so loudly in my ear; "If My people, who are called by My Name will humble themselves repent and turn from their wicked ways...!"

Is it too late? I don't know. Either way, we who declare Jesus as Lord are safe in the arms of our precious Savior and soon coming King, forever...

Expectantly,

Benji
